Theatres & Cinemas in Prague

Prague is a city renowned for its cultural life. Like all major cities, Prague attracts the well - known operas, plays, bullets and dance shows.
Pragues most famous theatres play host to opera and concert performances but the city is world famous for its Black Light Theatres and Black Latern Shows.

National Theatre

The Neo - Renaissance building of Natioanl Theatre offers wide reportaire of opera, ballet and drama performances by famous authors of teh Czech and World theatre history.

State Opera

This theatre was built in Renaissance style in the end of 19th century and its reportaire is based mainly on operas and ballets.

Estate Theatre

In 1787 the premiere of Mozarts Don Giovanni took a place here. This is the only theatre surviving where Mozart conducted his own work.

Laterna Magica

Laterna Magica is a uniquely Czech theatre experience a dazzling mix of film, visual effects and ballet.

National Marionette ( Puppet ) Theatre

Puppet shows for children and adults have a long tradition in Prague and many of the masterpuppeteers creations are real gems of artistry and craftsmanship.

Cinemas abound in Prague. Thay run the entire range, from the multikinos with surround sound to cool tucked away arthouses. All american or english movies are in English with Czech subtitles.

Slovanský Dům

Recently opened first cinema complex in the centre of Prague with 10 different halls offers high technical quality.

Lucerna

One of the coolest cinemas in town located in famous Lucerna passage ( built and owned by Havel´s family ) just off the Wenceslas Square. Lucerna is the oldest permanetly operating cinema in Europe and where first sound movie premiered.

Evald

The member of the European network Europe Cinemas in 2005. Beside the regular film screenings the cinema works an project "Pragues art - house cinemas."

Světozor

Downtown Prague´s premier art house cinema, screening quality films from the Czech Republic and arround the world.

Bijasek

A small cinema and theatre in the Kotva complex has weekly showings of the cult classic " Rex - patriates " on Mondays.
