Roznov pod Radhostem

Open air Wallachian Museum

The pictoresque town Roznov pod Radhostem belongs among the significant centeres of Wallachia-Carpathian region of Moravia and Silesia.The main activity of the museum since the foundation 1925 is to restore the original enviroment and setting of Moravian sheperds village.
There are three basic parts of the Museum with more than 60 buildings of typical wooden architecture.The Wooden Townlet shows the way of life and work of artisans,craftsmen and tradesmen of its period.Buildings and houses brought here from whole region feautures "village architecture"with influence of the Rennaissance,Baroque and Empire periods.The Wallacian Village shows the housekeeping and farming and the Mill Valley is a museum area of water driven technial devices and machinery and includes a water mill,a fulling mill and water mill.

Botanicus Ostra

Organic garden complex and Historic working village

Velehrad

The Cistercian Monastery with the Basilica of St.Cyril and St.Methodius

Religious monuments and places of pilgrimage are one of great part of architectural heritage of the Czech Republic.Velehrad belongs to the most significant pigrimage places in Moravia.It is connected with the seat of Moravia rulers and with the place,from which Christianity has spread on the lives of the Saints Cyril and Methodius.In the neighbourhood of Velehrad there used to be the metropolitan church of St.Methodius,where he was buried.The cult of the Slavonic apostles, who are the patrons of Europe together with St.Benedictus makes Velehrad the place of big importance.In 1985 at the 1100 years anniversary of St.Methodius death the pope Jan Pavel II donated the Golden Rose to the basilica/only a few cathedrals all over the world obtained this honor/.IN 1990 during his first visit to the Czech Republic the pope visited this place.

Novy Bor

A famous centre of glassmaking

Since 1820s,the Czech glass productin began to rise.In the first half of the 19th century,in the Novy Bor area,lived Bedrich Egermann,the "magician"of glass production.He invented a new art style and open new views on glass as an artifact.You can visit Museum of Glass in Novy Bor, where permanent exhibition shows the development of glassmaking,particularly paintings and engravings,including the exhibits of old workshops and models of glassworks.Near Novy Bor you can find Kamenicky Senov - town famous for its world renowned crystal chandolier production and the oldest glass secondary school in Bohemia.

Caves of Koneprusy

The three storey cave system in Koneprusy is the largest in the Czech Republic.On the middle floor were found human skeletal remains from the Early Stone Age, on the upper floor a coiners` forge was hiddden in the 15th century.From Prague you can reach the caves by car or train within 30minutes.
