Travel Documents

Tourists coming from countries which are members of EU are not obligated to carry passports neither have visas. It is sufficient for them to carry a national ID document when travelling to Czech Republic.  Tourists coming from countries which are not members of EU must have passports which are valid for at least 90 days from the day of their arrival. Persons over the age of 15 must have their own passports. Children must be subscribed in the passport of one of their parents. Please be aware of the fact, that the police may also require a confirmation of travel insurance.

Czech Language

In Czech Republic, Czech is spoken. It belongs to the group of slavic languages. In larger cities (e.g. Prague, Brno, Ostrava and Plzeň.) a fairly large number of people speak English. The language was known as Bohemian in English until late 19th century . Czech is very similar and mutually intelligible with Slovak and, to a lesser extent, with Polish and Serbian.

The stop „Lazarská” is the main night transport hub (just one after the stop „Vodičkova“ or „Národní třída“ respectively).

Bus

Taxi Service in Prague

Taxis in Prague are mostly reliable and are not too expensive. The city has launched a campaign a few years ago to stop taxi drivers from overcharging tourists. Mostly it has worked, but it is still better to use the companies that are known to be reliable and fair. You can either order a taxi or catch one on the street, but try to stick to the reliable companies. If you are ordering a taxi by phone, most operators speak English. Taxi cabs are usually at your service anywhere in Prague in about 10-15 minutes after ordering, by a phone or by the internet order. The service fare from airport to the center is usually around 550 CZK/ 23 EUR. Anyway, it is strongly recommended to ask about the approximate price in advance when ordering a taxi to avoid any further misuderstanding. We still recommend to use public transport system rather than taking a taxi cab.
